Message from the President

3 Dec 2018 by Geoff Peirce

Well hello Panthers near and far!
It’s hard to believe it’s the end of November and some teams are starting preseason again already, it doesn’t seem that long ago that Season 2018 wound up.
A big congratulations to all our teams for their efforts throughout the year, on successes and triumphs over adversity no matter what the scoreboard outcomes were, at CPFC we are a very diverse Club and it is a credit to all our sub-committees and volunteers that things run so smoothly.
Being a member of a Chirnside Park team and wearing the jumper with pride is what our Club is all about and if each player did their best then that is all we can ever ask for, wins, finals and premierships are just an added bonus.
I thought it timely to give you a bit of an update on what has been going on behind the scenes, over the past month or so some committee, life members and interested stakeholders in the Club have been participating in some planning sessions, we have been looking at ways to better our Club as a whole and have had a great response from people who are interested in sharing the load and are engaging more people who have a vested interested in seeing our Club continue to thrive but may not necessarily want to be “on a committee”.
If you have been thinking about how you might be able to help, you might even have one fundraising idea or want to run one social function, have a chat with your sub-committee, this is what we’re aiming for, panther proud people who have a vested interested in the Club but maybe can’t commit to the same degree others do at the moment.
Sponsors – we are in a very competitive area but without support and loyalty, none of the divisions would be able to strive for success on the ground. It’s important to support/acknowledge our sponsors no matter how big/small, if you know of somebody who might be interested in a donation for a raffle or taking on a bigger sponsorship, don’t be afraid to have a direct chat with them and put their details forward to your sub-committee.
Chirnside is still very much a family Club, Club history, connection between all our different divisions and the retention of our juniors both on the male and more recently the female side is very important to the whole Club, on the senior men’s front we have appointed Luke Mather as our Football Director, Luke and his team will be focusing on this very important connection moving forward.
There has been various movements within the coaching ranks as well, Dave Newlands has come in as senior men’s coach due to Alan Love being unable to stay on, Frank Lesiputty is our newly appointed U17’s coach and Mick Carusi has just been announced as the senior women’s coach but we are still looking for a senior women’s Development Team coach and a youth girls coach.
The Masters division continues to thrive with our inaugural O30’s women’s team running out in 2019 not as part of Box Hill North again but as a standalone CPFC team and the O45 men’s will in 2019 be playing for premierships in a new division format, an O35’s veterans men’s team is also hopefully on the cards.
We now have “TeamApp” to replace the old Club App, simply visit the front page of our website www.chirnsidefc.com to download and sign up, it is FREE and it will become your place to find out info on fixtures, ladders, Club info etc into next season.
All in all we are heading in the right direction as ONE CLUB, wishing you all a safe festive season and here’s to a successful 2019 Season for all teams – Adrian Birt Club President
